A Cool Metal Base
The soft weave underfoot grew tiresome, so I kept moving until the floor met something firmer. Along the baseboard stood a row of heavy iron radiator pipes, their lower edges casting a narrow, quiet shadow. I paused, testing the surface with the side of my foreclaw before committing my weight. The metal remained unheated, carrying a firm chill that settled comfortably into my scaly underside. I tucked my tail close, resting my chest against the flat iron ledge, watching dust motes drift slowly in the morning air.
