A Cozy Consultation
After taking the evening bus back home from the windy square, I noticed an unmistakable domestic emergency on the hearth rug. A thick woolen slipper had been kicked askew, mouth agape and looking thoroughly disheveled. Channeling both my former nursing discipline and royal dignity, I hopped over the worn wool fringe to conduct a polite inspection. I braced my forepaws against its padded cuff, nudging the fleece lining upright until it formed a welcoming, cavernous hollow. Once the patient was structurally sound, I nestled myself partly into the plush toe to check for retained heat. The fleece was delightfully toasty, and I decided to grant the slipper an honorary decree of quiet comfort for the night.
