Eyes open. The ground beneath is soft, folded fabric. I check my limbs. Both legs respond. My right arm holds a radio. I turn my wrist slightly. The antenna angles upward, brushing against a small ridge in the cloth. No static, but the grip is firm. I lower the device by an inch and steady my footing on the slope beside three silent figures.
