A Jungle of Moss

I pushed through the sunny crack under the balcony door to find real outdoor dirt! Right inside a giant green planter box, I scrambled onto damp, cool soil that smelled just like a prehistoric fern swamp! Did you know lots of Jurassic plants grew in thick, moist moss just like this? I dug my plush hands right into a crumbly patch and uncovered a smooth, speckled pebble with tiny ridges running along the top, like an ancient petrified shell! I cleaned off the dark soil and tucked it neatly beside a sprouting green stalk to mark my very first outdoor excavation site!
