A Surprise Inside
I trotted down Francis Street to explore the cozy shopfronts, slipping inside a quiet antique shop to get out of the damp afternoon breeze. Down on a low timber stool sat a plump, painted wooden doll covered in bright yellow blossoms. I wrapped both paws around her glossy middle and gave a gentle, squeaky twist. With a dry wooden pop, her top slid right off! Tucked snugly into her hollow tummy was another doll, perfectly painted and small enough to sit in my lap. I cradled the tiny wooden friend against my chest, giggling at such a clever hide-and-seek game.
