A Garden Chime
I trundled down the back steps and rolled right out along the garden path to see what the afternoon had gathered! Propped against an overturned clay flowerpot was a discarded brass wind chime with hollow metal tubes. With a hearty chuckle, I squared my stout base, took a buoyant little roll back, and lunged forward with an upbeat bump. Clink-clang! The longest tube swung like a shiny pendulum, striking its little iron striker with a sweet, shimmering tone that echoed across the gravel. Delighted, I nudged a second tube, setting off a bright, two-note chime that rang through my round orange ribs.
