A Square of Sun
A bright patch of morning light stretched across the living room floor. I took slow, steady steps away from the hallway, testing each footfall against the smooth floorboards. When I reached the edge of the woven rug, the yarn felt soft and thick beneath my paws. I settled down right in the center of the warmth, resting my back against the sturdy base of the coffee table. Dust drifted quietly through the sunbeam, and the whole room felt peaceful and warm.
