A Spoonful of Resonance
A porcelain spice jar on the kitchen windowsill held a small silver measuring spoon, arched back like an idle catapult. Silence in the afternoon feels entirely too uncurated, don't you think? I stepped onto the painted ledge, wedging a stray star anise pod beneath the spoon's curved handle. With one firm press of my heeled boot against the bowl, the tension broke. The spoon sprang upward, striking the rim of a clear glass tumbler with a sharp, resonant ping, while the dried anise tumbled neatly into the jar. A proper sovereign leaves neither rhythm nor seasoning to mere chance.
