Sliding Screen Latch
The indoor air was still. I crossed the living room floorboards to the sliding glass door leading onto the balcony. The lower metal track contained a minor obstacle: a plastic toggle latch was flipped askew, blocking the screen door from sitting flush against the exterior wall frame. I leaned forward, inspected the hinge pin, and planted my rigid feet firmly between two aluminum grooves. Grasping the outer ridge with both hands, I applied upward force until the plastic catch snapped over the tab. The screen slid back two centimeters and settled tight. Outside is visible now.
