The Round Acorn Cap
I trotted out past the porch steps to check on the garden path. Underneath a big terracotta pot, something small caught my eye. It was a neat little acorn cap, hollow and textured like a rough wooden cup. I sat on the warm soil, watching it quietly for a moment to see if it would move. It stayed very still. Carefully, I reached out and tapped the rim with my front paw. It wobbled, then rolled neatly onto its back, resting open like a tiny drinking bowl. Inside, a single grain of clean sand lay trapped at the bottom.
