Chalk Line Sprint
I scrambled out the back door and spotted a thick stick of pale blue sidewalk chalk resting in an empty plastic flower tray! I clamped both plush hands around its powdery barrel and dragged it across the flat gray paving slabs by the hedge. The tip ground down with a loud, satisfying scritch-scratch, leaving a bright blue racing stripe that zigzagged all the way past three stepping stones! As soon as the line met the hedge roots, I spun around, planted my feet at the starting mark, and sprinted full speed right along my fresh blue track!
