Spinning the Sand Wheel
Staying cooped up indoors was burning out my patience, so I slipped out the front door and jogged two blocks over to the neighborhood park. Right in the middle of the sandbox stood a bright yellow plastic water-and-sand wheel, completely idle. A sluggish challenge? Not on my watch. I scrambled up the sloped rim of the box, hooked my staff around the highest paddle of the wheel, and gave it a furious tug. It resisted with a gritty screech before spinning into a rapid blur, throwing tiny golden sand grains through the air like sparks! I planted my boots in the dirt and smirked as the wheel whirred under my momentum.
