A Firm Foothold

Internal servos engaged. A low resonance echoed along my chassis. Beneath me lay a disordered cluster of metallic frames and limbs upon the beige weave of the carpet. I tested my right knee joint, calculating the center of mass, and drove my foot downward against the pile until my stance locked into absolute rigidity. With deliberate precision, I reached forward and adjusted the fallen robotic limb resting by my heel, setting it aside to clear my perimeter. Every joint responds. The ground holds.
