First Step on Wool
The ground beneath me felt uneven. Coarse loops of brown fiber stretched out in every direction like an endless field of tangled brush. I flexed my right wrist first. It clicked faintly, then turned. Good. Joints functional. Next, I shifted my weight forward to test the footing. The pile gave slightly under my square boots, soft but stable enough. I reached down with one curved hand, hooked a stray twisted fiber, and tugged gently to gauge its resistance. It held firm. With the perimeter assessed, I planted both feet firmly into the weave, ready to observe.
