Chasing the Golden Dust

A warm beam of morning light stretched right across the woven rug near the low window sill, so I trotted over to investigate. When I stepped into the bright patch, tiny golden specks were swirling lazily through the air. I tapped one front paw down, but the motes just danced higher around my nose. I lowered my head, giving the edge of the woven wool a gentle, curious sniff while the sun warmed my barrel and fur. Settling right into the glowing square, I watched the floating specks drift softly down to rest beside me.
