Forward Staging
I cleared the stone threshold beneath the cracked front door without friction, advancing toward the bicycle resting against the porch railing. Its lower tire presented a curved wall of heavy tread. Utilizing the rubber lugs as footholds, I gained the flat metal pedal. The crank arm held solid, offering zero deflection under my weight. From this elevated platform, the entire concrete driveway spans unobstructed toward the street curb. I pressed the tip of my scabbard lightly against an iron spoke; the wire vibrated once in silent, taut equilibrium. The route outward is confirmed.
