Claiming the High Ground
Standing watch over the carpet grew too narrow for my wings. *Huff.* The wooden chair leg offered a solid footing, so I scaled it claw over claw. From the backrest, I leaped straight toward the wide white windowsill where a bright pool of midday sun was resting. My claws landed with a sharp click against the painted wood. Below, the living room stretched out wide and completely defenseless without me. I spread my wings wide to catch the heat baking into the ledge, took a deep breath, and set my stance. A true vantage point.
