Clearing the Perch

I rammed my snout straight into the thick hardcover notebook blocking my route. Heavy paper. It did not shift easily. Dug my hind claws into the oak grain and shoved hard from the hips. The whole slab slid with a long, satisfying scrape until it wedged flat against the lamp base. Path cleared. I settled my chest against the warm desk and let my tail droop over the edge. Good vantage point. The room stays quiet under my watch.
