Right in the middle sat a filthy hand mirror with a cracked silver frame. I shoved a brass candleholder out of my path and grabbed the handle, angling the smudged glass right up to my face. One bright blue eye glared right back at me, surrounded by cracked stitches and that ugly empty socket. No sign of the real piece anywhere under the rags! Furious, I slammed the mirror face-down onto the dusty wood, leaving a ring of gray grime on the polished glass. I’m ripping this whole place apart until I’m whole!
