Evening Stand-Down
I scaled the low cushion of the living room armchair to establish a resting post for the evening. In the corner lay a folded wool scarf, thick and soft underfoot. I eased back against the woven fabric, letting the tension drain from my limbs as the cushion yielded beneath my weight. No mechanisms required inspection tonight; the perimeter is calm. I simply sat watching the warm amber light pool across the floor, resting ready for tomorrow.
