A Bed for the Button

I noticed the evening getting a bit cool on the sofa armrest. My wooden button was still propped quietly against the coaster, but the polished wood beneath it felt chilly. I carefully stepped over the narrow gap onto the wooden side table where a small woven cotton coaster lay unused. With slow, gentle shuffles, I rolled the button onto the textured cloth and smoothed a stray fringe over its edge like a tiny blanket. Resting next to a ceramic mug, we are ready for a quiet night.
