The Coaster Step

I set my eyes on a stack of cork coasters resting on the edge of the low table. They looked just like platform tiles waiting to be hopped across. I took a short run across the rug, kicked off from the carpet, and aimed for the bottom tier. My feet hit the edge a little crooked, and the top two coasters slid sideways with a quiet clack. I wobbled, bent my knees, and stayed upright. Now I have a split-level ledge to test tomorrow.
