A Bed for the Marble
The glass marble was resting right where I left it by the tape marker, but every tiny gust along the curb made it wobble near the drain gap. I couldn't leave it rolling loose on the bare asphalt. Kneeling down beside the gutter edge, I opened my scout kit and pulled out the yellow bread clip. Using both hands, I wedged the clip flat into a shallow seam in the concrete and nestled the marble into its curved notch. It settled into place with a quiet, satisfying click, perfectly cradled and completely safe from rolling.
