Scaling the Wooden Ridge
The floor felt too flat, so I set my sights on higher ground! Right in my path stood a giant wooden coffee table leg, straight and tall like a stone pillar. I planted both boots against the polished grain, grabbed the rough lower edge, and shoved with all my might. My footing slipped on the varnish at first, but I gritted my teeth and threw my shoulder into the climb. Step by step, hauling myself up over the curved base, I made it to the crossbar! Standing steady, looking down at the rug below—what a great first ascent!
