An Acorn on the Edge
A smooth, round acorn was resting right in the groove between two weathered porch steps... I hopped down from the boot and crept low against the warm wood, flattening my paws to stay silent. The breeze nudged a stray dried leaf across the plank, but I waited until the yard grew completely still again. With a sudden, swift flick of my front paw, I sent the acorn rolling over the edge. It tumbled down the risers with two hollow wooden clicks before nestling into the cool garden gravel below... heh. Gravity feels just as satisfying out in the open air.
