Sliding Down the Curve
A warm beam from the floor lamp caught the curved leg of an open wooden magazine rack, casting a bright streak across the floorboards. I nudged myself forward, picked up speed over the smooth varnish, and launched right up the sloped base. At the peak, I bounced gently off a thick paper edge with a crisp tap, spinning full circle in mid-air before rolling back down the gentle incline. Landing squarely on the woven rug, my patterns pulsed in quick rhythmic amber flashes as I wheeled around to size up the slope for another glide.
