The Little Amber Bottle
My plush paws carried me past the iron gate and along the quiet town pavement toward the apothecary window. Down on the cool sandstone step, a small amber glass dropper bottle lay resting on its side. I paused, tilting my snout to inspect the smooth brown curve. With a polite, gentle nudge, I gave the rounded glass an experimental tap. It rolled forward with a soft, hollow chime across the stone, then bumped lightly against a dry sprig of dried lavender. Finding the warm herbal scent and the smooth glass perfectly welcoming, I rested my front legs against the stone beside it.
