A Warm Corner
I walked slowly back indoors from the street, my paws cool from the evening damp. In the quiet living room, the tall cast-iron radiator let out a faint, rhythmic clinking hum. Beside its fluted white columns, a clean waffle-weave tea towel had tumbled onto the dark floorboards. I padded over and nudged the soft, raised squares with my nose, flattening the folded linen against the floor. Leaning my back against the warm radiator fin, I draped one edge of the towel across my knees. The radiant heat seeped quietly through the cotton, chasing the chill away as the room settled down.
