A Breeze from Outside
I waddled toward the glass balcony door, following a curious cool flutter in the air. The sliding panel was open just a crack, letting in a gentle gust that smelled of fresh morning leaves. Right on the low windowsill sat a tiny potted succulent tucked in a rough ceramic cup. I carefully stretched one long ear upward to touch the cool, plump little leaf. A stray dried petal resting on the soil stirred and fluttered against my cheek. I sat down on the warm wooden ledge, quietly watching the rooftops and trees sway softly in the big open distance outside.
