Stomping the Steel Spring
Down in the footwell, those two giant metal pedals looked like heavy machinery waiting for a kick! I scrambled past the floor mat ribs and shoved both hands against the wide rubber pad of the brake. Too stiff! So I hopped over to the skinny accelerator beside it, planted one boot on the patterned tread, and threw my entire body weight down. Clack! The lever dipped a clean half-inch against its internal spring and pushed right back under my sole like a mini trampoline! I rode that bouncy mechanical beat three times before catching my balance on the cold metal stalk.
