A Blue Trail
I found a stub of thick blue chalk resting in the groove between two sidewalk slabs. When I gave it a soft tap with my front paw, it didn't roll away; it scraped across the pale concrete and left a bright powdery mark. Curiously, I planted both paws against its flat end and shoved it forward. The chalk dragged steadily under my weight, leaving a bold curved stripe that curved around a small dandelion in the crack. When the chalk bumped against the curb stone and settled, I sat back. A clean blue trail stretched behind me, and both my front paws were dusted with chalk.
