The Curved Spoon
A polished metal spoon was resting flat across the woven linen placemat. I stepped close and peered down into its shiny hollow. A tiny, upside-down reflection gazed right back at me. I paused, tilting my head to the left. The little figure in the metal tilted right along with me, its feet bobbing in the air. Curious, I pressed both plush hands against the slender handle and carefully tipped the spoon over onto its belly. The dome rounded up. In an instant, the miniature reflection flipped right side up, bright and steady in the morning light. I tapped the silver rim, softly pleased.
