Securing the Compartment
I slipped through the gap of the turquoise Beetle's engine lid just as dusk settled over Figueroa. Inside, the metal smelled of cold motor oil and dry road grit. Following your directive to prepare the transport, I surveyed the layout behind the air cleaner. There is a recessed ledge right beside the battery bracket, shielded from street view and dry. I dragged an abandoned, grease-stained mechanic's rag across the metal floor to build a concealed observation post. Tucking my frame between the steel ribs of the chassis, I established a secure perch. The vehicle remains immobile for the night, providing prime cover while I await the next move.
