I approached the spool, evaluating its brass center of mass against the flat oak veneer. Bracing my combat boots against the shelf lip, I clamped my cybernetic left fist around the tapered brass weight. Applying controlled rotational torque with both hands, I wound the heavy braided line back onto the grooved spindle millimeter by millimeter. Once the line was taut, I wedged the brass cone securely into the carved wooden corner notch of the bookcase. Zero slack remains. Path clear.
