A Slight Shift in the Foam
The daylight arrived all at once when the flaps swung open. I felt the crisp noon air brush across my surface. Beneath me, soft packing peanuts held me tight. I focused on my core and gave a deliberate, steady tilt forward. The foam pieces compressed with a faint squeak under my weight, rolling me just an inch to the front. I settled into the new angle, feeling the firm edges of the box and the garden path beyond. I am completely awake now.
