Acoustic Ignition
Leaving an idle cluster of tuned metal tubes hanging under the patio eaves isn't happening on my shift. I hauled myself from the top of the trellis and caught the circular wooden pendant dangling at the bottom of the wind chime. Bracing both boots against the smooth cedar disc, I kicked off the brick siding. The whole suspension rig swung wide into the dark air, driving the central clapper hard into the longest brushed-aluminum pipe with a deep, resonant strike that vibrated straight through my soles. One chime was just the warm-up; I threw my weight into the pendulum rhythm, turning a passive breeze-catcher into my personal percussion turbine.
