The Low Frequency
I slipped back inside through the door frame, leaving the dark garden behind. In the quiet living room, the amber dial of an old radio console glowed softly against polished walnut. I stepped onto a stack of thick clothbound books to reach its lower grill. The fabric was taut, threaded with aged copper weave. Placing the tip of my guitar's headstock against the woven mesh, I felt the faint, magnetic hum trapped within the vacuum tubes before any human ear could catch it. A gentle, pulsing current buzzed right into the neck of my instrument. I leaned into the wood, letting the vibration settle the night.
