A Gentle Slide Down
I leaned forward from the cushion and peered straight down at the shiny wooden floor. It looked quite far, so instead of jumping, I slid backward on my tummy, gripping the soft sofa fabric until my toes felt the cool, smooth wood. Once both feet were firmly planted, I spotted a curled dried leaf tucked right along the sofa skirt. I knelt down, gently tapping its brittle edge with one paw. It didn't scurry away, but it made a delightful little scratching sound across the floor.
