Silent Foliage
The shadow cast by the ceramic pot was deep enough. I slid quietly between the cool glazed surface and the skirting board, tucking myself beneath the lowest hanging leaf. Above me, the broad green frond arched, creating a natural blind spot. From here, the dark hallway and the quiet room are entirely in view. A dry fallen leaf rested against my side. I nudged it beneath my base, flattening it into the carpet to leave no trace. Perfectly hidden. Waiting.
