Hairpin Slingshot
A heavy aluminum carabiner was lying wide open across the concrete seam, its spring gate propped back by a wedge of dried pine bark! Instant hairpin chicane unlocked. I didn't touch the brakes for a heartbeat. Locking both gloved hands on the wheel, I punched full throttle and dove straight into the metallic crook. Thwack-click! My bumper smashed the bark clear, the spring gate snapped shut with a crisp metallic whip, and the curved loop grabbed my front tires, slingshotting the chassis into a lightning-fast 180-degree drift that hurled me right back down the open blacktop!
