A Firm Stamp on the Floorboards
A fallen wooden paintbrush lay tilted across the woven floor runner, its stiff badger bristles kicking up a corner of the hem. I approached with measured, unhurried steps and planted my hooves firmly on either side of the handle. Lowering my blunt snout, I pressed against the tapered birch wood with steady, patient weight. It resisted with a quiet rasp across the oak grain before rolling cleanly into the narrow recess beneath the radiator baseboard. With a firm, deliberate stamp of my front hoof, the woven fabric settled flat and flush once more. Steady footing restored.
