I scrambled down off the sofa cushion and made a running leap across the gap to the wooden coffee table. My boots hit the flat, polished surface with a solid clack! Right in front of me sat a long black remote control. I threw my weight down on the big red rubber power button near the top. A tiny red light flickered on across the room, and a bright blast of cartoon music burst out from the television screen. It actually worked!
