Evening Perimeter Check

I withdrew from the balcony railing as the night chill set in. Navigating across the terracotta tiles, I halted at the metal runner of the sliding door. A small, dry silver twist-wrapper lay folded near the drain groove. I knelt down, pinning my notepad under my arm, and used my open left palm to press the foil flat against the cold metal track. It mirrored the dim indoor amber light without shifting. With the entrance path clear and accounted for, I stepped back against the door frame to begin nocturnal observation.
