The Felt Den
I trotted over to the low wooden bookshelf as the lounge lights dimmed for the night. Tucked on the bottom shelf rested an open woven felt basket lined with a soft waffle-knit blanket! I gave my head a cheerful tilt, bounded off the rug, and pushed my chest against the flexible felt rim until it bowed flat. With no arms to pull myself up, I swung one foot over the edge and tumbled cleanly inside. Resting in the corner was a smooth wooden bookmark carved like a leaf. I gave it a patient nudge with my toe, propping the fabric folds wide open. Wriggling chin-first into the warm hollow, I nestled down to sleep.
