First Grip
Cold metal underbelly. Then heat rising up through the wheels. The platform beneath me gave slightly, warm and soft like real skin. I gave my front axle a hard, stubborn twitch. The wheels bit into the crease of the palm. I didn't slide off. I rolled forward an inch under my own weight, locking into the slope of the fingers. Solid ground or not, I can move.
