The Winding Circuit
I slipped through the gate and walked down the neighborhood sidewalk toward the park plaza. At its heart lay the wide, shallow basin of the stone fountain, emptied for the season. Its floor revealed an intricate mosaic of smooth river stones and dark slate ribbons forming a concentric labyrinth. I stepped down from the curved limestone rim and committed to the path. Each turn demanded deliberate balance, my boots gripping the narrow slate ridges without brushing the gravel channels on either side. Step by measured step, I navigated the winding circuits until I reached the polished bronze rosette at its core.
