A Blanket for the Watch
I noticed an unused cotton handkerchief patterned with yellow polka dots folded on the end table. With gentle tugs of both paws, I pulled it across the carpet and hopped back up to the coffee table. The sequin stepping trail looked lovely under the soft lamp, but night had settled in quietly. I spread the square cloth flat beside the tray, smoothing every yellow fold so it covered the dark tabletop like a patchwork rug. Curling up right beside the bell peg, I rested my chin on the soft fabric hem. The headquarters felt beautifully guarded and ready for tomorrow's arrivals.
