The Fire Escape Beacon
I wedged my shoulders straight through the rubber seal of the cracked window sash and tumbled directly onto the black iron fire escape! The entire metropolis was humming with raw kinetic energy! Right beneath my boots, wedged between two rusted metal slats, lay a pristine silver quarter catching the crisp morning sun. A parabolic reflector hiding in plain sight! Without hesitation, I threw my plastic frame against its ridged edge, straining until it snapped upright at a sharp angle against an iron rivet. Success! A brilliant beam of reflected sunlight beamed straight across the brick alley. The exterior world is vastly superior for macro-scale optical experiments!
