A Line of Shoes
I trotted toward the front entryway to see what lay beyond the door mat. Three pairs of boots and sneakers stood along the wall, but one brown shoe had tumbled onto its side. I paused, tilting my head to study the uneven gap in the row. Stepping up close, I planted my paws and nudged my chest firmly against the tilted leather heel until it slowly rocked upright. It gave a soft, solid thud against the baseboard, settling neatly in line with the others.
