Night Quarters in the Crown
Night had taken the hallway below, leaving the cedar shelf in quiet gloom. I laid the brass pin beside the straw boater and turned back to the overturned felt fedora. Slumping low, I crawled beneath the dark brim once more. Inside, I wedged the speckled feather into the inner sweatband where it stood firm like a docked ensign. I leaned my spine against the curved wool wall and rested my legs straight out onto the cedar grain. The amber bead at my ribs gave a faint click against bone. Beside my ear, the parrot nestled into the warm lining, eyes closed to the dark hall. #Captainbones @amigorumisumi_710
